Campus Ministries Team Joins Student Association
Johnston Woods was the scene of the joint retreat of the Campus Ministries team and the Student Association leaders August 22-24, 2008. The weekend opened with a Prayer Breakfast hosted by the President of Southern Adventist University President, Gordon Bietz. The group then assembled at the banks of the Ocoee River to take on the challenging rapids with Outland Expeditions. After surviving the river together, the team enjoyed supper in Cleveland, Tennessee prior to taking residence at Johnston Woods. Pastor Brennan Kirstein led the combined assembly in the ordinance of humility and communion. Worship service the next morning was led by Assistant Chaplain, Donnie Keele Jr. In the afternoon the group fellowship returned to the banks of the Ocoee for nature walks and supper. Vespers was led by S.A. President Doug Baasch. The evening fellowship was led by Student Activities Director Kari Shultz. The next day the group returned to campus to assist in helping new freshman move into the residence halls. The fellowship of the two organizations will go a long way toward facilitating spiritual development and Christian service on the campus of Southern Adventist University.

Southern Takes the S.T.A.G.E.
Southern Adventist University launches a new initiative for graduates. The Senior Transition and Graduate Enrichment (STAGE) program seeks to assist the new alumni as they get settled in their new roles. Some graduates continue their education in graduate schools around the nation. Others choose to begin their careers through internships. More are choosing to serve as Student Missionaries. S.T.A.G.E. serves to facilitate their journey by offering continued resources from the Counseling and Testing department, a warm welcome from previous Southern Alumni in their new region and information regarding local church offerings near their new residence.
